Course Objectives 1.To inform the students on the richness of Turkish culture and on the basic elements of art and crafts,
2. To provide basic information on the development and the production techniques of traditional Turkish art and crafts,
3. To observe the frequent use of topics and motifs of Turkish art forms through the artworks,
4. To rise awareness on local Turkish culture and to analyze the relationship between the local and global arts.
Course Description General information and visual analyzes on the major traditional art and crafts of Turkish art: Art of Books (binding, calligraphy, illumination, painting, filigree), Carpets, Metalwork, Woodwork, Stonework, Tiles and Ceramics, Textiles.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
1. Learn the basics on traditional Turkish art and crafts,
2. Learn the topics and motifs used in traditional Turkish artworks,
3. Gain information on the richness of Turkish art and culture,
4. Recognize the museums and get acquainted with the exhibited artworks.,
5. Learn about the production techniques (like paint, frit, clay, textile, etc.) of the traditional Turkish artworks,
6. Gain an aesthetic perspective over the artworks and decorative elements.
