Course Objectives 1. Providing students with knowledge of the concept of ‘city’ in general; and in particular; of the city in which they carry out university education and which has an important place in the history of civilization.
2. Evoking the stimulus to look to that unique city from different perspectives.
3. To provide the students to create the communication with the city where they live in.
4. Developing their familiarity with the city through the visits to the museums and sites.
Course Description This course attempts to give an educated idea about the artsitical, sociological and historical development of this unique city. During that course, the student will have information about art, history and social life of İstanbul since its foundation: Ancient Greek, Roman, East Roman, Ottoman and Republican eras.
Course Outcomes Students who succeed in this course;
1. Have a complete knowledge about the artistical, historical and social development of Istanbul.
2. Embrace and be willing to understand, to tell and to conserve the city where they live in.
3.Generate an observing and curious look for their environment.
