SBP 346E - Transformation of Urban Systems

Course Objectives

The course is designed to provide students a better understanding of the different perspectives on the transformation of urban systems through the investigation of political, economic, socio-cultural, technological implications on urban structure and the patterns of urbanisation.

Course Description

It is based on a series of thematic sessions on the transformation framework and the representation of urban systems from pre-industrialisation to post-modernisation stage; and offers an overview of the leading approaches to transformation of urban systems including retail facilities, housing, waterfronts, public spaces, historic neighbourhoods, culture and the urban community.
