Course Objectives 1. Examining housing types.
2. Understanding factors or parameters which influence house form.
3. Getting a deep understanding of designing houses.
Course Description Examination of various housing typologies by means of analyzing housing projects of
different architects; studying the housing design approaches of the contemporary
architects who have been able to synthesize the architectural inheritance in housing; the
discussion and interpretation of the house form regarding the unique formal properties,
façade compositions, design shapes, textures and building materials chosen; examples
from Botta, Wright, Corbusier, Ando, Gehry, UN Studio, New York Five and so forth.
Course Outcomes 1. Learn different concepts and typologies in housing.
2. Learn how to read and analyze a housing project.
3. Learn housing design approaches of famous architects.
4. Experience the designed space by making a model of a famous architect’s housing
project.
