2 Week 2: Plate Tectonics: plate tectonic theory, evidence of plate tectonics, and types of plate boundaries
Week 3: Minerals: definitions, the composition, and structure of minerals, mineral groups, and common minerals

Week 4: Rocks: What is rock? The basis of rock classification, rock cycle, Igneous Rocks

Week 5: Sedimentary rocks and environments.

Week 6: Stratigraphy: Geologic Principles, The Concept of Conformity and Unconformity and types of unconformities

Week 7: Fossils: What is the fossil? What is the best type of rocks containing fossils and why? Requirements of fossilization, Types of remains, importance of fossils.


Week 8: Metamorphic Rocks

Week 9: Break

Week 10: Midterm

Week 11: Deformation and geological structures: Basic classification of geological structures, faults, and folds.

Week 12: Geohazards: Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and Volcanic Activity


Week 13: Topographic maps, Geological maps, and topographic sections


Week 14: Hydrogeology: The Water Cycle, Darcy’s Law and Hydraulic Conductivity, Aquifers, Aquitards, and Aquicludes (Dams and Reservoirs).

Week 15: Urban Geology: Knowledge and Understanding of the Geology in Urban Environment.
