Course Objectives 1. to give practical and technical information on safety in living and occupational environment.
2. to emphasize the importance of workplace health and safety of the areas of environmental engineering.
Course Description Introduction, Fundamentals of epidemiology and environmental concern, Impact of air, water pollution and noise on human health, Role of specific cases on human health: toxic wastes, micro pollutants, radioactive wastes, electromagnetic pollution, Soil Pollution and impact of soil pollution on human health, Health and safety in living and occupational environment, Legislative perspective of occupational health and safety, Occupational safety in environmental engineering areas.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Establish interest of public health and environmental engineering
II. Understand the effects of environmental pollution on public health
III. Do concentration calculations on personal exposure
IV. Understand the importance of workplace health and safety
V. Follow the legal regulations on workplace health and safety
