INS 252 - Topography

Course Objectives

Practice the use of measuring tape, theodolite and level. Teaching how to plan and organize a survey and understanding error and accuracy concepts. Learning topography, maps, images and surveying methods and usage in civil engineering projects. Understanding the coordinate systems, area and volume calculations and GPS Field Data Collection Techniques

Course Description

1. Draw simple construction site’s layout including its measurements
2. Survey the scope of a given project
3. Use the instruments like measuring tape, Theodolite, Level and GPS
4. Analyze a topoghraphic map and able to make calculations on map
5. Discover errors in a survey
6. Apply a project with respect to collected data from surveys
7. Measure horizontal & vertical distances, angles and directions
