Course Objectives 1-) To provide a systematic understanding within economic theory of the technological and other factors that determine the market structure and levels and types of government regulation in a given energy market.
2-) To study contemporary energy policy issues.
Course Description In this course, we study main features of markets for energy. We will look at the different energy sources, such as coal, electricity, oil, natural gas and renewable energy and analyze them with the relevant market structure ranging from monopoly to competitive markets. Finally we discuss the role of the government and regulation of energy industries.
