Course Objectives

Construction of machine elements. Concept of continuous strength and fatigue in machine elements. Safety concepts. Material connections, force-dependent connections. Welded, soldered, adhesive, and riveted connections. Shaft-hub connections. Screw mechanisms and bolt connections. Mechanical springs. Gears. Shafts, axles, couplings, and clutches. Friction, wear, lubricants, lubrication theory, sliding and rolling bearings.
