Course Objectives 1. To introduce and endear the manufacturing engineering profession to newcomer students. 2. To introduce the ITU Manufacturing Engineering program,
3. To introduce the fields of specialization in manufacturing engineering.
Course Description Engineering as a profession. Areas of engineering and the importance of manufacturing engineering. Development of manufacturing engineering. Introduction of the ITU Manufacturing Engineering curriculum. Solution approaches in engineering, design process, contribution of manufacturing engineering in solving societal problems. Engineering ethics. Fields of specialization in manufacturing engineering.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to have:
I. Knowledge of manufacturing engineering profession, its history and future, main topics, job possibilities and its role in the society, (h, j)
II. Information about ITU Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum and the departmental facilities,
Familiarity with the profession of manufacturing engineering by sharing the experience of alumni and colleagues and gain motivation. (f, i)
