Engineering as a profession. Areas of engineering and the importance of manufacturing engineering. Development of manufacturing engineering. Introduction of the ITU Manufacturing Engineering curriculum. Solution approaches in engineering, design process, contribution of manufacturing engineering in solving societal problems. Engineering ethics. Fields of specialization in manufacturing engineering.
