MAK 228 - Fluid Mechanics

Course Objectives

1. Introducing the basic concepts of Fluid Mechanics.
2. Developing the ability to define, formulate, reduce, and solve problems using the basic equations of Fluid Mechanics.

Course Description

Basic Concepts and Definitions, Kinematics of Fluids, Stationary fluids, Manometers and Pressure measurement, Forces on submerged surfaces, Translation and rotation as blocks, Integral form of conservation equations, Control volume and system concepts, Reynolds Transport Theorem, Conservation of Mass, Momentum and Energy, Bernoulli's equation, Derivation of Continuity, Momentum and Energy equations in differential form, Navier-Stokes equations and applications, Stream and potential functions, Dimensional analysis and similarity.
