MAK 4043 - Fire Dynamics and Security

Course Objectives

Course Objectives
1. To introduce fire engineering; To ensure that students have knowledge about combustion, fire concepts, combustion conditions, fire types, fire causes, fire factors.

2. To ensure that students have knowledge of fire dynamics and fire model development, smoke generation properties, smoke structure, smoke control methods, as well as to introduce fire regulations and codes and to teach analytical calculation of the energy released in fire and fire load.

3. To ensure that students reach the level of knowledge to master fire protection system types and design principles, and also to provide them with the ability to use basic knowledge and project design in fire installations.

4. To ensure that students have knowledge about protecting life safety in fire and fire protection systems.

Fire safety engineering, fire philosophy, the concept, conditions, types and products of combustion, the concept, types, causes and factors of the fire, the fire triangle, fire classes, physical and chemical properties of fire, development of fire, spread of fire, fire load, fire behavior indicators, fire regulations and codes, fire dynamics and fire model development, smoke generation properties, structure of the smoke, smoke control methods, structural fire safety, extinguishing effects, fire extinguishing agents; stair pressurization, fixed pipe hose systems, hydrant system, automatic sprinkler systems, fire pumps and pressure zoning.
