Course Objectives		Textile Engineering students, 1. To give basic concepts about strength calculations that they will encounter in design problems. 2. To show engineering applications of calculations. 3. To enable them to use these in solving Engineering Problems.
Course Description		Internal Force and Concept of Stress. Hooke’s Law. Mechanical Behavior of Materials. Simple States of Stress. Combined States of Stress. Elastic Curve. Stress – Strain Relations. Failure Hypothesis.
Course Outcomes		1. To teach the basic concepts and principles of strength of materials 2. To acquire skill for calculating stress and strain 3. To acquire skills in applying such concepts to design.
