JEO 310E - Geomicrobiology

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the nature, diversity, metabolic activities and results of microorganisms, and the solid phases and minerals with which they interact.

Course Description

The course examines the processes developing within the cell at the cell interface between microorganisms and minerals, and the mineral precipitations, dissolution and changes in water geochemistry that occur as a result of this relationship. Microbial evolution and its geological consequences will also be covered during the course.
