Course Objectives 1 - To introduce historical and contemporary discussions on the environmental issues and environment concept within the social sciences framework
2 - Developing the ability to think theoretically and conceptually
3 - Developing the ability to communicate and discuss issues effectively
4 - Developing the ability to READ and understand texts, make research and write
5 - Developing the capacity to locate and evaluate engineering problems in their social contexts
Course Description The course include different perspestives on social aspects of the environment. Being environmental sociology, environmental politics the main subjects, the course introduce contemporary issues as environment and nature concepts, environmental planning, environmental law, environmental ethics, environmental discourses, social aspects of environmental management and economics, different country perspectives and experiences on the environment.
Course Outcomes 1 - Understand and evaluate environment concept and environmental issues within social sciences perspective and relate this appreciation to historical and contemporary context
2 - Think theoretically and conceptually
3 - Communicate and discuss issues effectively
4 - Read and understand texts, make research and write
