FIZ 372 - Experimental Physics

Course Objectives

1. Basic error analysis of experimental data and its presentation
2. Designing amplifier for a signal from a sensor
3. Choosing filter types to prevent noise
4. Basic data acquisition and control with computers
5. Data recovery from noise using modulation techniques (Phase locked loop, lock-in amplifiers)

Course Description

Analysis of the error in different types of experimental data (electronic, optical, acoustic, etc.) acquired through different methods and data acquisition techniques with computer, sensors and detectors, noise and dealing with noise source, grounding, filtering, modulation, design of experiments and related circuits, lock in amplification, simple PID control, examples in interfacing power electronic devices.
