FIZ 635E - Advanced Astrophysics

Course Objectives

1-Understanding the fundamental properties and dynamics of astrophysical plasmas.
2-Formation of required theoretical knowledge for following the literature on the astrophysics of black holes, neutron stars and white dwarfs.
3-Transferring the theoretical knowledge required for following the literature on high energy astrophysics.

Course Description

The course covers the dynamics of astrophysical fluids and radiative processes. Accretion disks around compact objects like black holes, neutron stars and white dwarfs are studied. These are then related to the contemporary research fields, like X-ray binaries, active galactic nuclei, gamma ray bursts, of high energy astrophysics.
