Course Objectives 1. To inform students about metabolism, cell structure and function
2. Introduction to basic genetic concepts
3. Introduction to viral and bacterial genetics
Course Description Cellular basis of life; chemical basis of plant and animal cell structure and functions; structure and function of cell membrane; cellular energy production: photosynthesis, cellular respiration; control of cellular activities; cell reproduction; genetic basis of life
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. have a general information about eukaryotic cell metabolism
II. have knowledge about cell and membrane structure and function
III. learn the mechanism of cellular respiration and photosynthesis
IV. have an idea about cellular communication
V. learn cell cycle, meiosis and mitosis
VI. have knowledge about the molecular and chromosomal basis of inheritance
VII. learn the synthesis of protein
VIII. have a basic knowledge about viral and bacterial genetics
