Course Objectives
This course is an introduction to scientific computing using Python and MATLAB. The course is intended for students with no prior programming experience who are expected to use Python and MATLAB in economics courses. Python is a general-purpose high-level programming language that is well-suited for a wide range of applications. There is a large number of freely available modules (libraries) that extend the functionality of Python. MATLAB is another high-level language for scientific computing. MATLAB comes with well-developed libraries for mathematical computations, modeling and simulations, data analysis and processing, visualization and graphics, and algorithm development. In this course, we will cover the fundamentals of both languages.
