Course Objectives 1) To provide students with knowledge and skills on solving human disease pathogenesis with combining genetic, genomic and molecular biology disicplines.
2) To gain knowledge on the development of new therapeutical tecniques for diseases
3) To develop skills on scientific presentation and article discussions.
Course Description Systems and the molecular biology and genetics of diseases related to these systems, an evolutionary approach to basic genetics, diseases, epidemiology and genomes, molecular biology of metabolic diseases, circulation, cardio-vascular diseases, the diseases of the ionic channel, cancers, inflammatory diseases, genetic and cell therapies.
Course Outcomes MSc. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skills and proficiency in the following subjects
I. Introduction to human genetic diseases and gain knowledge on genetic epidemiology
II. Genome comparisons among species and learn fylogenetic analyses
III. Molecular mechanisms and examples from diseases; metabolic, blood, cardiovascular diseases
and ionopathies
IV. Introduction to cancer and Its molecular mechanisms
V. Molecular basis of neurologic diseases
VI. Immune system and relating immune and inflammatory disease mechanisms
VII. The role of post-translational mechanisms in diseases
VIII. To learn molecular disease terapies and examples from gene and cell terapies
