Course Objectives
I. To learn different mathematical modeling techniques with OR,
II. To learn the basic concepts of decision making, modeling and solution methods of decision making problems with applications
III. To learn formulating and solution of optimization models.
IV. To apply optimization models in real-life problems with big data.
Course Description
Basic concepts in Operations research (OR) and decison making, Linear Programming (LP), LP formulation, Graphical Method, Simplex Algorithm, Intege programming (IP), IP modeling, Solving LP and IP using software, Multi-criteria decison making – main concepts and approaches, Case studies on real-life problems with big data
Course Outcomes
1. I. Know main terms and concepts of Operations Reseach and decision making
2. II. Use different mathematical modeling and decision making techniques,
3. III. Solve a linear programming problem and comprehend the analysis of results,
4. IV. Understand the sensitivity of a solution to the changes in parameters of a model,
5. V. Use some computer software to model, solve and analyze a linear model,
6. VI. Know Multi-criteria Decision Making methods and applications
7. VII. Gain competence to model and solve real life problems.
