Course Objectives

1. To have comprehensive knowledge of textile reinforced composites (TRC).
2. To make a composite material design and analysis by giving information on TRC’s components.
3. To examine the global and local market of the TRC’s.

Course Description

General introduction about composite materials, definitions and material selection. Fibers used in the composites industry. Textile reinforcement forms used in the composite industry. Termoset polymer matrix used in the composites industry. Thermoplastic polymer matrix used in the composites industry. Fiber-matrix interface, characterization and fiber surface treatments. Composite manufacturing methods. Hybrid composite materials. Testing and modelling, physical and mechanical analysis. Fatigue and impact strength analysis. Damping and thermal analysis. Textile reinforced composites application areas.
