Course Objectives

• To introduce additive manufacturing and 3D printer technologies and to give information about related concepts
• To teach the advantages and disadvantages of AM compared to traditional production methods
• To introduce information about types of materials that can be used with additive manufacturing
• To introduce information about usage areas of additive manufacturing in different industries and the prepared standards
• To introduce information about current scientific studies and to lead the R&D studies about AM

Course Description

Definition and historical development of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, AM methods and types of materials used, product design and fabrication rules for AM, applications of AM in industries including aerospace, automotive, medical devices, energy, electronics and consumer products, international standards and scopes for AM, state-of-art academic studies based on AM.
