Course Description Basics of worldbuilding
• Comparative review of living beings and cultures on Earth for representation in game
worlds.
• Creating a consistent world to improve player experience.
• Worldbuilding elements to consider from a game design perspective
• Examples from worldbuilding of successful games
Course Outcomes M.Sc./Ph.D. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency
in the following subjects;
1. Plan for creating a world for a game that will be produced.
2. Work on individual elements of a world to be created and shape a consistent world.
3. Ensure that the theme and details of the world to be created is consistent with the game
design and mechanics.
4. Gain the ability to analyse the worldbuilding techniques and strategies present in the game
literature.
