Course Objectives 1. Discussions on various approaches employing history in Modern and Contemporary Architecture.
2. Introduction of various domestic and foreign case studies concerning the subject of the course.
Course Description Different approaches aiming to establish the relations between new and old in architecture since the late 19th Century; Historicist approaches in the 19th Century; Tendencies totally rejecting architectural heritage in the early 20th Century; Efforts focused on the re-establishment of the conciseness of history in the 20th century architecture; Post-Modern understanding; New design in olds settings.
Course Outcomes 1. Methods of historical utilization in the 19th Century architecture;
2. Approaches rejecting historicism in architecture in the beginning of the 20th Century;
3. Knowledge of historicism in the 20th century; and
4. Historicist approaches in architecture at present times.
