Course Objectives 1. To teach advanced techniques for spectral and spatial manipulation, synthesis and analysis of audio.
2. To enable students to design and develop audio programming tools.
3. To contextualize technological developments in an aesthetic framework of current practices.
Course Description This course teaches advanced programming skills for audio application design and development.
Students will gain a thorough knowledge of standard approaches to signal processing, and through examination of current research, identify new strategies for incorporating audio applications into the field of sonic arts.
Course Outcomes Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge skills and competencies:
1. The ability to design and develop sophisticated audio applications.
2. Advanced knowledge and skill in digital signal processing.
3. The competency on using their programming skills to implement creative strategies in multiple platforms.
4. The competency on identifying areas of potential research in the field of audio programming.
