Course Objectives
1. İngilizce okuma, okuduğu bilgiyi anlama, değerlendirme, yorumlama, yazma,
konuşma ve sunma becerilerini geliştirmek
2. İngilizce akademik terim ve kelime bilgisini geliştirmek
3. Güvenilir kaynak seçimi konusunda bilinç sağlamak
4. Öğrencilerin seçecekleri belirli bir konu hakkındaki bilgisini genişletmek
5. Akademik hayata uygun, araştırmanın etik normlarına yönelik bilinç sağlamak
Course Description
Aşağıdaki araştırma sürecini içeren akademik bir yazı yazma: Bölümlere ait olan ilgi
çekici bir konu seçme, seçilen konuyla ilgili güvenilir kaynaklara dayanarak belirli
bir bakış açısı geliştirip savunma, eleştirel düşünme, yazı planı oluşturma, APA
standartlarına uygun alıntı yapma, kullanılan kaynakların listesini (Kaynakça)
hazırlama.
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1. Conduct extensive library and internet research to select suitable, relevant and
reliable sources of scholarly nature related to the topic they have chosen.
2. Identify different kinds of sources and logically organize findings from a variety
of sources in the form of an outline.
3. Document source information by correctly applying APA style citations and
references.
4. Locate, evaluate, interpret, and synthesize source information for the defense of
the thesis.
5. Perform extensive note taking with the correct application of paraphrases,
summaries and quotations.
6. Draw personal conclusions, make deductions and form comments based on the
research findings.
7. Prepare and present an expository or analytical paper in APA style.
8. Adhere to the norms of research ethics.
Pre-requisite(s)
Passing either ING 101 or ING 102 or ING 112/ING 112A courses with a minimum
of DD letter grade.
Required Facilities
1. Students submit all their homework as Word and/or pdf documents.
2. They refer to websites to find sources.
3. They use multimedia tools for their oral presentations.
4. At the end of term, students are responsible for formatting their documents
for uploading into the database.
