The main goal of this course is to present some of the major themes in political thought through an examination of the works of classical philosophers from Plato to Marx.

The problem of the origins of state and society, the varying conceptions of citizenship, the question of the limits of individual freedom and the struggles on the social distribution of wealth will be among our primary focuses.
