Dersin Amaçları
The main objectives of this course are to:
1. Introduce students to tool materials.
2. Teach tool design,
3. Teach special gauge design
4. Teach cuttting tool design.
5. Intoduce the students to jigs and fixtures and their design.
6. Teach the students plastic injection mold die and cutting die design principles

The students passing the course will be able to:

1.Be familiar to the materials used for tooling components such as tool steels, low carbon
steels, cast iron, aluminum, plastics, wood and cutting tool materials. (a)
2.Understand the advantages of tool design by using CAD techniques. (c)
3.Understand the factors involved in the design of special quality control gages. (c, e)
4.Become acquainted with the development of cutting tool design and the selection of tool
geometries for metal cutting (c, e)
5.Understand the design principles of jigs and fixtures, use of clamping and drill bushings.
