SBP 477E - Tourism and Development

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to teach the main concepts, dynamics, actors and changing trends in tourism to urban and regional planning students. As tourism one of the main sectors to utilize natural and built-environment as a main source, it is also important for local/regional/national economy by its job and income generation potential, planners should know and consider about ‘tourism’.

Course Description

Considering the environmental, economic and social impacts of tourism and the concept of sustainability, the course will provide the students to know about tourism with its stakeholders, demand and supply side, changing tends and the impacts on cities/regions. It is expected to have active participation of students in order to achieve interactive learning.
