Course Objectives This course aims to provide the basic concepts about computers and information systems in urban studies and to develop the skills of basic modelling and visualization applications and computational thinking and problem solving in professional studies.
Course Description Introduction to computer and information systems in urban studies. Essentials of computer arithmetic and data representation. Basic design and analysis of algorithms. Computer programming in urban studies. Computer graphics and multimedia. Data analysis, modelling and visualization in urban studies. Essentials in web-design. Cloud computing and collaborative on-line tools in urban studies. Social and ethical aspects of computer systems and technologies.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
1. Gain the basic knowledge about computers and information systems.
2. Learn, how to use three-dimensional modeling and visualization techniques and to transform the models into different formats,
3. Develop computational thinking and problem solving skills in urban planning and studies.
