Course Objectives

Definitions and principals in mechanics. Axioms of Newton’s mechanics. Kinematics of particles: Linear, plane and general motions. Relative motion. Constraint motion. Kinetics of particles: Vibration, work- energy, impulse and momentum principles. Collision. Central-force motion. Variable mass. Kinematics of rigid bodies: Translation and rotation of a rigid body in plane. Instantaneous center of zero velocity. Kinetics of rigid body: work-energy, impulse and momentum. Rotation about a fixed axis. Vibration of a rigid body.
