Course Objectives

An introductory course focusing on physical geology. Topics include minerals, rocks (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic), plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanic activity, Earth resources, and the many processes that have shaped the Earth.

Course Description

General geology (minerals, rocks and their structural properties), earthquakes, interpretation of geological maps, hydrogeology (occurrence and flow of groundwater), engineering geology and media properties, geological construction materials.
