Course Objectives 1. To enhance awareness of Turkish maritime culture,
2. To discuss about the causes and consequences of defeats and military victories.
3. To gain responsibility awareness of carrying ship flag in all waters.
Course Description First Turkish maritime action. Turkish maritime activities in Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Shipyards activities in the Ottoman Empire. Introduction to grand Turkish Admirals. Assessment of major military victories and defeats. Seas trade concessions. Ship ceremonies and maritime education in the Ottoman Empire. Maritime education and training in Turkey.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to;
I. Learn about Turkish maritime history,
II. Gain knowledge about military and commercial maritime activities in the Anatolian Seljuk State.
III. Gain knowledge about shipyards, military and commercial ships and Captain Pasha in the Ottoman Empire.
IV. Learn ship ceremonies in the Ottoman Empire.
V. Learn maritime policies in the Ottoman Empire.
VI. Gain knowledge about ship’s personnel and their assistants and grand Turkish Admirals in the Ottoman Empire.
VII. Gain knowledge about maritime education in Turkiye.
