Course Objectives
1. To teach the fundamentals of electrical systems and electrical equipment. 2. To teach DC circuits and circuit analysis.
3. To teach fundamentals of AC Circuits.
4. To teach electrical systems and devices on board ships.
Course Description
Electrical safety rules and equipment. Electrical circuit components. Star-Delta transformations.DC circuit theory. AC circuit theory; single-phase AC, three-phase AC. Functional, operational and safety requirements of ship high voltage systems. Ship electrical distribution systems and grounding systems.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to; I. Learn about fundamentals of electricity and electrical equipment. II. Learn about analysis of electrical circuits. III. Learn about alternative current (AC) circuits. IV. Learn about electrical systems on board ships.
