General definition of ship resistance. Component of resistance. Derivation of equations related to resistance by dimensional analysis. Effect of roughness and pollution on resistance. Wave-making resistance and computational methods. Similarity laws. Evaluation of offshore structural elements and their appendage resistance having circular, elliptical and rectangular cross sections. Evaluation of ships effective horsepower I various methods. Resistance increase in waves.
