Course Objectives 1. To provide the applications of functions of several variables and vector valued functions.
2. To give an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics on engineering problems
Course Description Function sequences and series, Fourie-Laplace Series, Line integrals, vector fields, path independence, potential functions, the fundamental theorem of line integrals, Green’s theorem in the plane, surface area and surface integral, Stokes’ theorem, Divergence theorem.
Course Outcomes Students completing this course will be able to
I. Calculate surface areas of surfaces in space. Calculate surface integrals of functions defined on surfaces.
II. Calculate line integrals on curves given in space using all available techniques.
III. Apply Green’s Theorem, Stokes’ Theorem and Divergence Theorem for real valued and vector valued functions
IV. Have a fundamental understanding of sequences of functions and theorems on uniform convergence.
V. Have a fundamental understanding of series functions and theorems on uniform convergence.
VI. Have a fundamental understanding of Fourier series and be able to give Fourier expansions of a given function.
