Course Objectives
The course aims to familiarize the students with history of science and tehnology and historical methodology.
Course Description
History of science and technology will be conveyed to the student within the framework of certain themes:
What is history and how do we study history? Historical sources and historical methodology.
Science and technology in world history:
Science and technology in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Ancient Greece
Science and technology in Rome
Science and technology during the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution
Ottoman and European comparative history of science and technology:
Reading culture and libraries
History of medicine
History of engineering education
Military technologies
Marine technologies
Electrical technology
Cinema
Course Outcomes
1 Students will be equipped with the basic concepts of history and historical research methodology.
2. Students will be equipped with the history of the science and technology within the framework of certain themes.
3. Students will be equipped with a critical approach in evaluating historical texts.
4. The course will provide students with analytical reading and writing skills.

Course works:
VF: 70 % Class participation and 30 % success regarding term paper and its presentation.
Research Paper:
Research paper based on primary sources (30 points) and its presentation in the class: 30 points (20 minutes).
Final exam: 40 points.
