Course Objectives
1. To provide basic knowledge on system dynamics and automatic control to textile engineering students,
2. To introduce basic controller design methods with a curriculum enriched by application examples.
Course Description
Introduction to Control in Textile Processes: Basic concepts: Open-loop & closed-loop systems, Importance of control in textile processes, Historical background & modern trends, Mathematical Modeling of Control Systems: System Dynamics, Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal and Fluid Systems, Sensors and Actuators, Transfer functions & block diagrams: Laplace Transforms, System Response and Stability, Feedback and Disturbances, Differential Equation Solution and Linearization, Root Locus and Frequency Response, PID Control and Tuning Methods, Feedback: Basic Control Actions, P, PI, PD, PID Control, State-Space Analysis, Transient Response, First and Second Order Systems, Digital Control Systems, PLCs and Microcontrollers in Textile Machinery, Adaptive and Model Predictive Control, Fuzzy Logic and Neural Networks in Control, Robust Control Techniques, Industry 4.0, Smart Factories and Automation in Textiles, Control and Automation in Spinning, Weaving & Knitting, Control and Automation in Dyeing, Finishing, Printing, and Coating Processes
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Learn general knowledge on control system structure.
II. Modeling and analysis of dynamical systems.
III. Transient response analysis of linear systems.
IV. Application of basic control algorithms and PID tuning methods.
V. Discrete time and sequence Control, PLC
VI. Control of multivariable processes and systems
VII. Set up controller design experience based on industrial application examples.
