Course Objectives

1 To teach the elements of human error, the importance of human factor in maritime safety and security system,
2 To teach different approaches and techniques on human factor,
3 To comprehend and apply human performance and workload methods,
4 To be informed about social and professional working conditions, rules and standards.

Course Description

Basic concepts of human and human error, different evaluation techniques and methods. Human factor in maritime, projects and researches carried out. Performance evaluations, subjective and physiological workload assessment techniques (SWAT, NASA-TLX, HRA, EMA etc.). Use of tools used in the determination of workload, measurement and evaluation. Case studies. Evaluation of relevant rules and regulations, social and occupational working conditions and ergonomics, their impact on workload and performance.
