KIM 627 - Chemical Biology
Course Objectives
To teach general and structural aspects of nucleic acids,
To discuss the nature of the interactions between nucleic acids and some other molecules,
To teach structural and thermodynamic aspects of these interactions,
To teach the function of oligonucleotides.
Course Description
The primary purpose of this course is to give a full understanding of biochemistry by completing topics covered in Bio323. In the first part of the class, the fundamentals of nucleic acids will be covered. Accordingly, the students will learn about the general and structural aspects of nucleic acids, in addition of the methods for their structural analysis. In the second part of the class, the interactions of nucleic acids with other molecules will be covered in terms the structural and thermodynamic aspects. Finally, the basics and general functions of oligonucleotides will be taught.
