KIM 625 - Bioorganic Chemistry

Course Objectives

To teach the structural aspects and the synthesis of proteins and peptides,
To teach the mechanism of protein folding,
To teach artificial systems in peptide chemistry,
To teach the mode of actions of enzymes.

Course Description

The prime purpose of this course proposal is to expand topics covered in Bio324. Accordingly, the materials of the class will be divided into two sections. The first section of the class, which is mainly devoted to proteins and peptides, will cover the structures, synthesis and folding of these macromolecules. This section will be completed upon covering artificial peptide systems. Subsequently, the second chapter will include topics on the mode of action of enzymes, ranging from co-factors, enzyme inhibitors and artificial enzymes.
