EUT 623E - Design Pedagogy

Course Objectives

1. To deepen students’ understandings on learning theories and design learning approaches,
2. To investigate the relationship between learning experiences and instructional strategies in the context
of design studio,
3. To analyze and discuss on the elements of design learning processes within the context of design
studio,
4. To explore cognitive, metacognitive and affective learning processes specific to industrial design
studio.

Critics on pedagogy, Models of student-centered adult learning, Research on design curricula, Overview of undergraduate industrial design education, Foundations of design learning and teaching process, Curriculum challenges in industrial design studio, Elements of learning in design studio, Formative and summative assessment strategies in design studio, Cognition in design learning process, Metacognition in design learning process, Affection in design learning process, Reflective thinking in design learning process, Reflective writing in design learning process, Projections on design learning and teaching processes
