RST 514 - Conservation Studio II
Course Objectives
1. To make the students of various backgrounds familiar with the different aspects of site conservation.
2. To teach the methods used in site conservation projects and present internatioanlly accepted solutions
to certain problems that arise during the preparation of projects.
Course Description
Case study: the survey and documentation of the present condition of a historic urban site from Istanbul or another region of Anatolia with drawings and photographs; spatial, functional, demographical, typological analyses for the site; decisions on necessary interventions for the preservation of the site such as simple repair, rehabilitation, restoration, renovation and modern additions; proposals for the design of infills.
