TEL 620E  Optimization Models in Telecommunications
Course Objectives
The purpose of this course is to introduce the concepts and fundamentals of optimization, build up the pertinent theory, and solve problems arising in communication systems by making use of this theory.
Course Description
Review of linear algebra and multivariable calculus, unconstrained optimization, iterative gradient and Newton's methods, equality and inequality constraints, convex sets and functions, convex optimization problems, linear programming, quadratic programming, semidefinite programming, geometric programming, Lagrangian duality, multiobjective optimization, case studies in communication systems.
