Course Objectives

• provide graduate students with sound knowledge of numerical methods for thermo-fluid systems.
• use this knowledge in the numerical solution of thermo-fluids problems.

Course Description

Introduction. Fundamental equations of fluid flow and heat transfer. Initial and boundary value problems. Classification of partial differential equations. Numerical solution approaches. Finite difference formulations. Parabolic equations: Explicit and implicit methods. Stability analysis. Elliptic equations. Vorticity-Stream Function formulation. Hyperbolic equations. Introduction to grid generation.
