Course Objectives Using genetic algorithms and evolutionary approaches in the creative processes of architectural design;
To take advantage of evolutionary approaches and processes found in nature as a source of inspiration, while solving problems in architecture field;
Using L-systems, cellular automata and emergent systems in architectural design;
Analyzing and researching processes and forms found in nature in the form searching stage of architectural design;
Using computer as a partner in the idea generation phase of the design process.
Course Description Usage of genetic algorithms in architectural design, genetic architecture; Generation of forms in digital architectural design, and sample models; Genetic algorithms in creative architectural design and role of evolutionary design; Genetic evolution; Terminology of genetic algorithms; Genetic algorithm technique and phases; Genetic algorithm operators; Genetic algorithm parameters; Evolution in design process; Evolutionary design optimization, evolutionary art; Creative evolutionary design; Evolutionary approaches in design process; Evolutionary healing in design; Evolution of solids, object design, Interactive evolutionary computation model; Evolutionary approaches in creativity; Evolutionary idea searches; Integrated evolutionary design; Biomimesis, Lindenmayer systems, cellular automata and emergent systems in architecture; Evolution of house design, shape evolution, floor plan design model; Evaluation of creative design; Evolutionary model examples for creative design.
