Course Objectives Teaching students calculation methods in terms of engine performance, fuel consumption, exhaust gas and noise emissions,

Gaining basic knowledge about engine development and design studies.
Course Description The history of internal combustion engines and the development of their important features to the present. The main criteria in the design and development of a new engine model, mathematical models and calculation methods. The effects of the processes occurring in the engine real cycle on each other and the methods of comparison of alternatives. Examples of modelling, evaluation of results and application to design.
Course Outcomes Information about the phases and changes in the characteristics of the ICE from its first emergence to the present will be obtained, and the system to be designed and developed will be comprehended by making predictions about the expected features of the engines in the future.

The concept of ICE calculation and development criteria will be understood and in this context, information will be gained on the subjects under the heading of motor characteristics.

Contradictions related to ICE calculation and development objectives and methods of eliminating these contradictions will be learned.

While gaining information about today's technique within the scope of assignments to be prepared on current issues, experience will be gained in the written and oral presentation of a prepared subject, as well as in understanding a presentation by listening and asking questions.

Article deciphering will be practiced on the current article example on R&D and design and the concept of "continuous improvement" will be understood.
