YAB 611E - Building Perform.Simul.Methods

Course Objectives

1. To introduce theoretical and operational principles underlying the technology related with energy/environmental systems, computer modeling and simulation.
2. To develop an understanding of the different techniques for the energy simulation of buildings using physical scale models.
3. To develop an understanding of the computer simulation techniques for estimating performance in buildings.
4. To enable appropriate choices with regard to the simulation software depending on the performance requirement.

Course Description

This course aims to give an introduction of theoretical and operational principles underlying the technology related with energy/environmental systems, computer modeling and simulation as a viable approach to design and performance evaluation. It introduces the benefits, concepts, approaches, assumptions and limitations of state of the art building performance simulation methods. The practical work is designed to demonstrate the concepts introduced in the lectures, and to gain practical "hands-on" experience in building performance simulation software.
